Police officers Şeref Şık and İsmail Kök stopped a taxi in Istanbul while controlling traffic and took the woman inside the car out. Şık and Kök kept the woman inside a police vehicle for four hours and raped her. After stealing 1400 TL from the woman as well, the police officers left her in Yedikule and drove away.

The woman went to Aksaray Şehit Vedat Ulusoy Police Office Command to file a complaint and spoke to police officer Y.S. “He also has children, and he’s super regretful, don’t worry, I will punish him. He can never get close to you again. You’ll call me if he ever does,” said the police officer and did not receive the complaint of the woman.

Police chief E.S. did not file the complaint as well, saying, “I’m the chief of that officer. I will punish him myself. I will exile him somewhere else.” That day, it was revealed that Fatih District Security Directorate Chief on Duty A.B. was informed by police officer Y.S. as well; whereas he didn’t file the necessary order for a complaint even though he’s listened to the victim. The police officers returned the stolen 1400 TL, whereas didn’t receive the complaint.

The woman went back to the police station the next day with a friend of hers; this time filing complaints against both the police officers raping her and the officers and chief who haven’t filed her complaint before.

Şık and Kök was arrested afterwards and the other police officers were released with judicial measure. A lawsuit was filed against five police officers. Şık faces an imprisonment claim for up to 46 years and Kök for up to 10.5 years. A.B. faces an imprisonment claim for up to 15.5 years and E.S. and Y.S. for up to 10.5 years.
