Istanbul 1st Criminal Judicature of Peace decided to continue the detention of lawyer Burak Saldıroğlu, who was arrested on charges of “insulting the President” due to his social media posts. His lawyers stated that there was no criminal element in Saldıroğlu’s post and that his detention was prolonged by delaying the indictment. Saldıroğlu’s family and relatives emphasized the disappointment of the verdict on Eid, but said the process had strengthened solidarity.
