Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that they have started an investigation against the People’s Democratic Party’s (HDP) 4th Ordinary Congress. Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli has previously called the Prosecutors for an investigation against the congress and said, “Public prosecutors must start criminal investigation against the separatist congress of the HDP immediately. Everyone should get themselves together.”
Not even a few hours after the statement, the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the detainments of 15 people due to “making armed terrorist organisation propaganda” over an investigation started against the slideshow presented during the HDP Ordinary Congress on February 23. The slideshow depicted photos from the October 10 Train Station Massacre, Suruç Massacre, Taybet İnan’s corpse in the middle of the street, protests after trustee assignments and during hunger strikes. 13 of the 14 people detained were released upon testifying.
