A lawsuit was filed against Velat Öztekin, former reporter of Kurdish newspaper Azadiya Welat, which was previously shut down with a statutory decree, on the charge of “insulting the President” for two cartoons, one of which was made by Carlos Latuff, on his social media account. The journalist will stand trial at the Diyarbakır 7th Criminal Court of First Instance on January 27.
