Bitlis Journalists Association President, Bitlis News Editor-In-Chief and journalist Sinan Aygül was sentenced to pay a fine of 1,500 Turkish Liras in the case of “insult” filed against him at the Tatvan 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance for calling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Bitlis Parliament Member Vahit Kiler a “Kurdish politician” in his column in 2015. As the decree was not open for appeal, the journalist announced that he will not pay the fine. In case he doesn’t pay the fine, the journalist may be imprisoned.
