Representatives of the Vatan Party held a press conference in front of the Fatih District Governor’s Office in Istanbul on February 27. Party officials filed a complaint with the district governor’s office, arguing that the use of the title “Ecumenical” by Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew was unlawful. Provincial Chairman İbrahim Okan Özkan argued that the Patriarchate was a local institution and demanded administrative action. The delegation announced that they had initiated legal proceedings on the matter.
