Photographer Bennu Gerede was detained as part of an “obscenity” investigation. The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had launched an investigation under Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code after Gerede showed a necklace on a YouTube program that she said was a “portable vibrator.” After police procedures were completed, Gerede was referred to court and released under a judicial control measure banning her from leaving the country.
