Gazete Pencere reporter Can Bursalı gave a statement to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office as part of an investigation launched over his reports and social media posts. Prosecutors accused Bursalı of “slander,” “insult” and denigrating state institutions. Bursalı denied the accusations and said his reports and posts were part of his journalistic activity. A criminal judgeship of peace released Bursalı under judicial control measures requiring him to sign in at a police station three days a week and banning him from leaving the country.
