Members of the Private Sector Teachers’ Union wanted to make a statement in front of the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Çankaya Gate on June 17. Police blocked the protest and detained 14 people, including union executives. The teachers were on the third day of their hunger strike over demands regarding a base salary and working conditions.
