On March 24, 2026, the Istanbul 26th Criminal Court of First Instance increased the 3-month and 22-day prison sentence imposed on Ali Ergin Demirhan for a Charlie Hebdo article published by Sendika.Org in 2015 to 5 months. The court issued its ruling despite the Constitutional Court’s decision finding a violation of freedom of expression. Demirhan’s lawyer announced that they would appeal the decision.
