Police intervened against the crowd during a Newroz celebration held in the Darıca district of Kocaeli and detained at least eight people. It was reported that Ömer Yıldız, the co-chair of the DEM Party’s Gebze District Branch, was also beaten. Tensions ran high at the scene following the intervention. Detentions related to the incident are ongoing.
