The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation on February 19, 2026, against journalist Alican Uludağ for posts on his X account, charging him with “publicly insulting the President” and “publicly disseminating misleading information.” Following the prosecutor’s instructions, Uludağ was detained in Ankara and requested to be brought before the prosecutor in Istanbul on February 20, 2026. The Contemporary Journalists Association reacted to the detention and demanded Uludağ’s immediate release.
