The Suruç Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment on February 19, 2026, against journalist Ceylan Şahinli on charges of “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations” for participating in the commemoration of Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin held in Pirsûs on December 23, 2024. The Suruç Criminal Court of First Instance accepted the indictment. In the same case, charges were also brought against Mehmet Şirin Gürbüz, co-chair of the DBP in Amed; Hacer Ayhan, former co-chair of the DEM Party in Dîlok; and Bekir Karakeçili, co-chair in Riha.
