The Anatolia Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office Press Crimes Investigation Bureau has prepared an indictment against journalist Sedef Kabaş for her social media posts. The prosecutor’s office assessed Kabaş’s posts on the X platform as “openly inciting crime” and requested a prison sentence of 6 months to 5 years. The indictment was sent to the Criminal Court of First Instance. If the court accepts the indictment, Kabaş’s trial will begin. Kabaş was detained on January 26 on charges of “insulting the president” and “inciting crime” for the same posts, and was released under judicial control with a ban on leaving the country and a requirement to sign in twice a week.
