Police conducted simultaneous raids on numerous homes in Van city center and its districts on the morning of January 14. During the raids, many individuals were detained on allegations of “making organization propaganda” and “violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations.” While no official statement was made regarding the number of detainees, those arrested were taken to the Van Provincial Police Department. It was reported that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
