Retired Brigadier General and author Naim Babüroğlu was denied entry to military clubs on January 8. Babüroğlu was prevented from entering the Fenerbahçe Military Club to give a lecture titled “Atatürk, the Republic, and Lausanne” because the security system displayed a “no entry” warning. Military club personnel stated that the ban had been imposed by the General Staff. Babüroğlu, noting that no official notification had been issued, announced that the conference had been canceled due to the incident.
