The Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office appealed on January 9 against the release decision issued for former Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer and former IZBETON A.Ş. General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya. In the case filed on allegations of “using public institutions as intermediaries and causing public harm,” 65 people, including former CHP Izmir Provincial Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu, are on trial. The Izmir 23rd Heavy Penal Court had decided to release Soyer and Kaya at the fourth hearing of the case. The prosecutor’s office requested that the release decision be revoked in the case, which is still ongoing.
