As part of the “extortion” investigation conducted by the Balıkesir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, CHP Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Council Member F.G. and R.E.K., who works at BASKİ, were arrested on January 9. The prosecutor’s office issued arrest warrants for six people on allegations of abuse of public influence in exchange for resolving zoning issues. Of the suspects taken into custody, F.G. and R.E.K. were arrested by the court, while the other four were released under judicial supervision.
