Conscientious objector lawyer Gökhan Soysal was fined 210,130 TL by the Sivas Military Service Branch for not going to military service. Soysal had previously faced fines and account blocking and had applied to the ECHR. Commenting on the verdict, Soysal stated that the administrative fine was chosen due to the high amount and that he will continue his struggle for the right to conscientious objection.
