Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel on charges of “threatening” and “publicly insulting a public official” for his statements against prosecutor Cahit Cihad Sarı.
Özel had criticized the white Taurus symbol on the prosecutor’s desk and targeted Sarı, who he said was in charge of IBB operations.
The prosecutor’s office also launched an investigation into social media posts targeting the prosecutor after the statement.
