The march organized by “Workers’ Families Seeking Justice” for the past seven years at Taksim with the demand to declare April 28th “The Day of Mourning and Commemoration for Those Having Lost Their Lives in Work Murders” was not permitted this year. The families were prevented from marching with a police barricade. The press statement made by the families stated that at least 1,872 workers have lost their lives during work in 2018, saying, “We can’t even go on the streets to express this fact. The fight here is to prevent further deaths of workers.” According to the data compiled by the Workers’ Health and Safety (ISIG) Assembly from the press and professional organizations, at least 22,612 people have lost their lives in work murders from the year 2003 until March 2019.
