A3 News Editor-in-Chief Süleyman Gençel was detained upon the complaint of Dokuz Eylül University Rector Nükhet Hotar. Gençel was attacked in Izmir in 2013. It was then claimed that Hotar, who was the Deputy Chair of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) at that time, instigated the attack. Gençel has applied to the Constitutional Court about Nükhet Hotar last week, before the detainment.
