Press In Arrest launched a report, ‘The Anatomy of Journalist Prosecutions in Turkey’ that involves data and analysis of court results from 240 different lawsuits filed against journalists. The data were obtained from the hearings of 240 separate lawsuits filed against 356 journalists since 2018 and reveal how measures of criminal law in Turkey are used systematically to target legal activities of journalists. The report presents proof on systematic human rights violations under four main titles:
- The arbitrary use of criminal law and the anti-terror law
- Arbitrary detainments and arrests
- Violations of the right to fair trial
