Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu called lawyer Ebru Timtik, who lost her life on the 268th day of the indefinite hunger strike she was on with a demand of fair trial, a “terrorist”. Soylu targeted the Istanbul Bar Association as well, who organized a commemoration event. Soylu stated for Istanbul Bar Association, which put pictures of Timtik on the Bar Association building, “I reprimand those hanging photos of a terrorist organization member on the Istanbul Bar Association. It’s such a pity.” Soylu said that he will file a criminal complaint against this practice. Afterwards, Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gül also targeted the Istanbul Bar Association and said, “It is unacceptable for the Bar Association to be the backyard of illegal and marginal structures.”
