The Secularism Assembly filed a criminal complaint against former AKP MP Ahmet Hamdi Çamlı’s social media statements calling the Republic a “bloody coup” and calling for a showdown with the Republic. The statement emphasized that Çamlı’s remarks constitute a threat against the constitutional order and demanded a public prosecution under Articles 216, 301 and 309 of the Turkish Penal Code. The Secularism Assembly emphasized that the Republic and secularism must be defended and called for these statements not to go unpunished.
