Members of the popular music group Manifest testified within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on charges of “lewd acts” and “exhibitionism”.
The court ruled for the band members to be released under judicial control with a ban on leaving the country and a signature condition.
The investigation was launched after a sold-out concert at Küçükçiftlik Park on September 6, which attracted 12,000 people. The prosecutor’s office had characterized the dances and performances during the band’s stage performance as “an attack on the feelings of decency and modesty”.
Manifest said in a statement, “Our aim is not to disturb anyone. We gave our testimony and we are now free,” Manifest said in a statement, expressing their regret over what happened. The band also emphasized that they make music with the dream of representing Turkey around the world.
Presidential Advisor Oktay Saral targeted the group on social media and made harsh statements.
