Police intervened on the 38th day of a sit-in at Ankara’s Güvenpark over the employment and personal rights of relatives of fallen enlisted soldiers and enlisted veterans. Police removed the protesters from the park and took them to the Gazi Uyumevi. Veterans and relatives of fallen soldiers wanted to make a press statement outside the Interior Ministry, but police prevented them from leaving the facility and marching to the ministry. The protesters later sat on the road and continued their protest. Erdem Çerçioğlu, General President of the Association of Families of Fallen Soldiers and Veterans, alleged that they were mistreated during the intervention. One veteran climbed onto a bridge and said he would take his own life, but came down after friends persuaded him.
