Writer Kemal Yalçın learned on 9 December 2025 at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport that he was subject to an entry ban to Turkey. Yalçın was held at the airport for about 11 hours and was sent back to Germany without being admitted to Turkey. He said the grounds and legal basis for the ban were not explained to him and filed a case before the Ankara Administrative Court. According to Yalçın, despite the court’s request, the information and documents forming the basis of the entry ban were not provided to his lawyers for eight months. Yalçın said this prevented him from mounting an effective defense and asked for the ban to be lifted.
