Doruk Madencilik and Eti Gümüş workers who were members of Bağımsız Maden-İş were again placed under a police blockade outside the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources on the ninth day of their protest in Ankara over unpaid wages and other labor receivables. Union official Volkan Çetin said partial payments had been made to some workers but that the protest would continue until all receivables were paid. Çetin said they would request another meeting with the ministry. A Doruk Madencilik worker said the ministry had acted as guarantor of the earlier agreement and called on it to assume responsibility for ensuring the payments were collected. Bağımsız Maden-İş General President Gökay Çakır and Organizing Specialist Başaran Aksu, who had been detained the previous day, remained in custody.
