Diyarbakır 8th Assize Court announced its reasoned decision regarding Geli Kurdistan TV’s cameraman Rojhat Doğru, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for allegedly participating in the protests, for which he followed news information on. The court considered it a crime for the journalist, who was convicted of “disrupting the unity and the territorial integrity of the state”, “terrorist organization membership” and “making propaganda for a terrorist organization”, to follow the Kobani protests. Claiming that Doğru did not follow the protests as a journalist, the court cited his lack of a press card issued by the Presidential Communications Directorate as a basis.
