Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court accepted the 171-page indictment prepared against manager Ayşe Barım, who was arrested within the scope of the Gezi Park investigation. Barım will be tried on charges of ‘aiding and abetting the attempt to overthrow the government of the Republic of Turkey or to partially or completely prevent it from performing its duties by using force and violence’ with a prison sentence ranging from 22 years and 6 months to 30 years. The first hearing will be held on July 7.

According to the indictment, Barım was in contact with Memet Ali Alabora, Osman Kavala and Çiğdem Mater, defendants in the main Gezi Park case, during the protests in 2013. It was alleged that the company ID İletişim, owned by Barım, systematically used the hashtags #occupyturkey and #DirenGeziPark on social media.

It was stated that Barım directed artists to the protests, acted in a planned organization and assumed an active role on behalf of the art community as of May 27, 2013, the start date of the Gezi protests. According to HTS records, Barım did not have any contact with Alabora outside the Gezi protests.

The prosecutor’s office claims that Barım took part in the planning and organization of the Gezi protests and demands a severe punishment.
