Istanbul 49th Criminal Court of First Instance ordered an investigation into allegations of torture and ill-treatment in the case of 139 people detained during the Saraçhane protests. The court requested uninterrupted video footage of the police intervention and all records of the announcements at the scene to be requested from the Police Department. The defendants’ defenses included allegations of rights violations such as hair plucking, reverse handcuffing, sexual harassment and asphyxiation. Hearing adjourned until December 4, 2025.
