Constitutional Court (AYM) decided that the rights to meeting and demonstration of educators Yılmaz Güneş and Yusuf Karadaş were violated. Güneş and Karadaş were penalised with disciplinary penalties due to participating in a demonstration organized on 2011 demanding education in mother tongue.
The high court issued a total of 4000 TL moral compensation and 2433.8 TL of court expenses to be paid to the two teachers, stating, “The fact that some people used the opportunity of a peaceful demonstration and chanted slogans praising a terrorist organization leader does not make the intervention to the right to meeting of everyone attending the demonstration rightful.”
