Two young members of the Workers’ Party of Türkiye (TİP) were arrested after hanging a banner in protest ahead of National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin’s visit to Kadıköy High School in Istanbul. TİP said the young people, named Nehir and Nevin, were detained for protesting Minister Tekin and were later arrested by the court and sent to prison. The party criticized the arrests, emphasizing that the right to protest was constitutionally protected. TİP said the two had been campaigning against worker deaths in vocational education centers (MESEM) and called for their release.
