Police detained 52 people, including Etimesgut Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu. The Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into allegations of irregularities in several municipal tenders, the preparation of forged documents, and the provision of benefits through parking-lot leasing transactions and zoning and licensing procedures. The suspects faced charges of establishing and joining a criminal organization, embezzlement, bribery, extortion by a public official, rigging tenders and the performance of contracts, and abuse of office.
