Kor Kitap Publishing announced that royalty payments made to writers and translators Tonguç Ok and Necip Baysal, who are currently in prison, are being investigated as part of a “terrorist activity” probe. An investigation was launched against the representative who made the payments on behalf of the publishing house, and after being detained for four days, he was placed under house arrest. The publishing house responded to the investigation by stating that the royalty payments were legal and were used to meet basic needs in prison. The statement emphasized that criminalizing royalty income was unacceptable.
