Prior to the first hearing of the case against Aziz İhsan Aktaş, the Istanbul 1st Heavy Penal Court imposed a quota on journalists covering the trial. The court decided to allow a total of 25 journalists into the courtroom, 20 from the national press and 5 from the foreign press. It was announced that the hearing would be held at the Marmara Open Prison complex and that, for security reasons, no phones or recording devices would be allowed in the courtroom.
