The Constitutional Court (AYM) issued a decree of “right violation” for the sculpture, which was described by President Erdoğan as a “freak” during the time of Erdoğan’s Prime Ministry. The artwork was sculpted by Mehmet Aksoy in Kars and Erdoğan wanted it removed, therefore Kars Municipality ordered for the sculpture to be taken down in 2011. The High Court issued that the municipality had violated the right to freedom of expression and sentenced 20 thousand TL compensation to be paid to Aksoy. “I want the sculpture to be put back in its place,” Aksoy stated.
