DEM Party Diyarbakır MP Sevilay Çelenk submitted a parliamentary question to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) on the public exposure of people as guilty in the detentions against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Çelenk emphasized that these practices are contrary to the Constitution and the ECHR. “The presumption of innocence is not only a legal norm; it is also the basic guarantee of human dignity,” Çelenk said. He reminded the KCK operations of the past and said that these “perp walk”-like practices are reminiscent of the coup periods. He submitted a motion with 5 questions to the ministers of Justice and Interior.
