Siirt Provincial Mufti Ahmet Altınok targeted news website of OdaTV by giving the example of the attack against Charlie Hebdo on January 7, 2015, in which 12 people were killed. The targeting was due to the article of Nazif Ay published on November 21, 2018 with the title, “Here’s how jihad is being taught on course books.” OdaTV news website Editor-In-Chief Barış Pehlivan shared a message, writing, “How can a mufti of the government, paid by the government itself, can remind people of the Charlie Hebdo massacre and targets OdaTV so that ‘they don’t get away with it’ and say that they should repent to God before dying? How can the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice and the Directorate of Religious Affairs remain quiet after this?” OdaTV writer Nazif Ay also shared a message on his Twitter account, saying, “We’re openly being threatened with death. There is death threat against OdaTV and the independent press.”
