It was revealed that the novel, “11 Minutes” by Paulo Coelho, published in Turkey by Can Publishing, was censored. Translated into Turkish by Saadet Özen with 38 editions, the book uses “Middle East” instead of “Kurdistan.” The translation further censored the part that described how Kurdistan was divided between Turkey and Iraq. Following the reactions on the matter, Can Öz spoke on behalf of Can Publishing and stated, “We will fix it in the next edition” with an announcement to pull the book off the shelves.
