Previously shut-down Özgür Gündem Daily’s Co-Editor-In-Chief Hüseyin Aykol was imprisoned for the execution of his 3-year 9-month imprisonment sentence. There are currently 63 lawsuits against Aykol due to his journalist activities. He has been convicted of “making illegal organisation propaganda” in 2018 by Istanbul 13th Assize Court; the sentence was later finalised with an appeal court decree. The journalist was detained from his home in Ankara and was taken to Sincan Type-F Prison No.2.
