An indictment seeking up to six years in prison was prepared against jailed former İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer. The indictment treated Soyer’s statements on cooperativization as aiding an alleged embezzlement offense committed in cooperatives. Soyer’s lawyers Murat Aydın, İsmet Köymen and Defne Soyer argued that the allegations did not reflect the material truth and were unlawful, and requested his release. Soyer remained jailed as part of investigations concerning İZBETON and cooperatives.
