One person detained in Kuşadası as part of LGBTI+-focused operations carried out under the name “My Family Is Safe” was arrested. The detentions of people including LGBTI+ activists were part of operations that began on the night of 12–13 September and spread to several cities. Other detainees were expected to be referred to courthouses after police procedures. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek had said that judicial proceedings were initiated against 162 people, 9 associations and 13 businesses in operations conducted in 15 provinces under the coordination of the Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Aydın and Mersin Chief Public Prosecutors’ Offices. The investigations were conducted on charges of “obscenity,” “facilitating prostitution” and “violation of the Law on Associations.”
