Özgür TV programmer and ETHA writer Ahmet Polad was arrested in Istanbul after being extradited from Syria to Türkiye. Polad had been abducted by HTS on 19 January while covering events in Raqqa and was extradited to Türkiye on 9 September. After being referred to a courthouse in Istanbul, he was arrested and sent to Metris Prison. The “Freedom for Eva and Ahmet Initiative” said Polad’s father was able to see his son briefly and that Polad said he had been tortured for eight months and had been on hunger strike for a long time. The initiative said Polad was in poor health and called for his release and treatment.
