Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality removed the film Rojbash from its program, where it had been scheduled for a free screening at Sümerpark Amphitheater on 13 September. In a letter sent to the municipality four days before the screening, the Diyarbakır Provincial Police Department recalled that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s 2024 decision finding the film unsuitable for commercial circulation and screening remained in force and asked that the screening be reconsidered. Although the letter did not contain an explicit ban, the municipality canceled the screening over concerns about possible legal consequences. In a lawsuit brought by the film team against the ministry’s decision, Ankara 3rd Administrative Court had annulled the measure, but the Regional Administrative Court later overturned that ruling. The film team’s appeal before the Council of State remained pending.
