Minister of the Interior Süleyman Soylu targeted Diyarbakır Bar Association at a show he attended at TRT News Channel. “That’s a bar association that belongs to the PKK,” said Soylu.
The bar association launched a declaration as a response to Soylu’s statements, reminding the public of the words of Tahir Elçi, who was killed in Diyarbakır in 2016: “I haven’t yielded to your gendarmerie intelligence and anti-terror unit (Jitem) member grandfathers, generals; will I be afraid of you now?” The bar association invited Soylu to take action on his claim, saying, “We are not afraid. We are where you took Tahir Elçi.”
