The Gezi Park Case with 16 defendants, including arrested businessman Osman Kavala, was concluded with acquittal. Istanbul thirtieth Assize Court separated the files of defendants abroad and removed the warrants against them.
After the decree, Kavala was expected to be released out of prison after 840 days under arrest. However, Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office took action immediately. This time, Kavala was charged with “attempting to overthrow the Constitutional Order” in accordance with Turkish Criminal Code Article 309 within the “July 15th Coup Attempt Investigation.” Before he could even leave prison, Kavala was detained once again.
