The Küçükçekmece 5th Criminal Court of First Instance ruled to extend the detention of social media influencer Murat Övüç. Övüç is on trial on charges of “publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility” due to a video he shared in which he wore a headscarf. During the hearing, Övüç stated that he had filmed the video for comedic purposes and requested his release and acquittal, but the court ruled that his detention should continue.
