The 30th Criminal Court of First Instance in Küçükçekmece sentenced journalist Enver Aysever to 10 months in prison on charges of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility” and ordered his release. Aysever, who is currently detained at Marmara Prison, appeared before the judge at his first hearing and argued that his remarks should be considered within the scope of freedom of expression. The case was filed due to comments Aysever made during a live broadcast regarding remarks made by Hasan İmamoğlu, the father of Ekrem İmamoğlu.
